The Club

The Club Baur au Lac was founded in 1970 as a private initiative and has since become one of Zurich’s most exclusive social institutions. The Club sees itself as a place for refined social interaction, where tradition, discretion, and personal connections are cultivated in an exceptional setting. The focus is on personal interaction and the preservation of social and cultural values of enduring significance.

To this day, the Club is situated in the historic Villa Rosau – an impressive patrician villa with a distinctive architectural identity. Between 2017 and 2020, this historic building underwent a comprehensive restoration with the utmost care and extraordinary effort, and was equipped with state-of-the-art technology. The goal was to preserve the villa’s historic character in its original elegance while creating an infrastructure that meets the highest contemporary standards.

Behind the historic, protected façade, a harmonious blend of classical architecture, fine materials, and leading-edge building technology has emerged. With great sensitivity, every detail was designed to preserve the special atmosphere of Villa Rosau while allowing guests to experience it anew. The stylishly designed venues combine timeless aesthetics with the highest level of comfort, creating an ambiance of refined restraint and discreet exclusivity.

Club Baur au Lac is a private, family-run institution open exclusively to its registered members and their guests. Today, the Club brings together some 550 prominent figures from the worlds of business, culture, science, and society.
